Larue W. Adams, 87, of Raleigh went to be with his Lord Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Larue was born December 8, 1925 in the farming community of Longs in Horry County, SC, the youngest son of the late John P. and Effie Adams. He was preceded in death by his 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Mr. Adams was a veteran of World War II serving in active combat in the European and Pacific theatres. After graduation from the Citadel in 1950, he moved to Raleigh to work for McCormick and Co. where he was employed for 35 years. A member of Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, he was also active in the Lion's Club, the VIP Group and on the board of many other community and civic organizations.

During his lifetime, Larue was blessed to have loved and been loved by two amazing women. After 33 years of marriage, he lost his first love, Juanita Morrow Adams, to cancer in 1996. In 2005, he married the second love of his life, Wanda Scott Adams, and they enjoyed many happy and loving moments together.

Always a loyal friend, he had a smile and wave for everyone he met. He will be remembered for his Triple A-Plus attitude, his thoughtfulness, generosity and undefeatable spirit.

In addition to his beloved wife, Wanda, he is survived by his daughter Janet Anderson and her husband Scott of Belmont, NC, step-children, Teresa Hegler and husband Julian, Steve and wife Melissa all of Raleigh. He was Papa Rue to Colby, Henry, and Logan Hegler and Collin and Ashley Scott.

He is also survived by his special nephews, Larry Sawyer and wife Paige of Lumberton and John Adams and wife Sharon, special niece, Amy Richardson and husband Bryan of Conway, SC. He was loved and known as Uncle Larue to so many more.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, March 16 at Hudson Memorial Church, 4921 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC. The family invites friends to visit and enjoy refreshments in the church parlor immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church or to Hospice of Wake County.
