Laura Ann Hansen was born July 26, 1959, in Elmhurst, Ill. She attended Our Lady of the Wayside School, graduated from Arlington High School in 1978, and received a B.S. degree in communications from Southern Illinois University in 1982. Laura started her career with the McCarther Foundation and then spent several years with Metrovision, as well as Snyder Communications. From there Laura became the president and CEO of Direct Response Corporation. In 1999, Laura then launched her own marketing consulting company, Hansen and Associates, based in Streamwood, Ill. Laura was highly recognized nationally in the world of marketing and communications. Laura's love for life was carried out in her passion for cooking and art. Laura launched a very successful blog, BestoftheBestDiningChicago.com, that was visited by people around the world. Laura was an accomplished artist and this was something she had a true love for. Most importantly was Laura's giving and compassion she had for her family and friends. She touched the lives of thousands of people and help guide and mentor many more every day. Laura will be truely missed by all. Laura is survived by her mother, Patricia Hansen (nee Dorian); father, Donald Hansen; brothers, Christopher Hansen and Jon Hansen; sister-in-law, Susan Hansen; and nephew, Jack Hansen. A funeral Mass in Laura's honor will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 30, at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 450 S. Mitchell St., Arlington Heights. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wellness Place, 1619 W. Colonial Parkway, Palatine, IL 60067, www.wellnessplace.org.
