Wilton – Lauren D. Rollins, 83, of Wilton, Maine passed away on Sunday September 25, 2016 at his residence.
He was born in Farmington, Maine on April 21, 1933 a son of John H. and Theda L. (Packard) Rollins.
Lauren attended Wilton Academy and graduated from Maine Central Institute Class of 1952 and was an excellent student athlete, lettering in football, track and field, boxing, and skiing, with a full scholarship to MCI.
He served in the US Air Force achieving the rank of SGT.
Lauren married Doris Poirier in 1959, they had two children. She passed away in 1971 at the age of 34.
In 1994 he married Kathryn Wiggins, who passed away in 2008.
He was employed at Oxford /Boise Paper Co until retirement and was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
Lauren was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Blue Knights of Maine, Tree Farm Association of Maine, Sportsman's Alliance of Maine and the National Rifle Association.
He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, enjoyed fishing, working in the woods, and snowmobiling.
Lauren had a special fondness for all things desert, especially German chocolate cake.
Surviving are his daughter, Susan M Dalrymple and longtime companion Stanton Stanhope; son Stephen Rollins and wife Wanda; five grandchildren, Christopher, Chance, Alicia, Victoria and Denise, two great grandchildren, Christopher Jr. and Gabriel; three nieces, Vicki, Michele and Lisa; and a special friend Catherine Rolfe.
He was predeceased by his parents, and brothers Warren and Stephen.
The family would like to thank all those who helped care for Lauren, including Cathy, his neighbors, and the Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice Staff, especially Patty Parker.
