Obituary

Laurent G. Cormier, 85, of Manchester, died November 2, 2012 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born in Manchester on July 23, 1927 the son of Augustin and Cecile (St. Germaine) Cormier and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City. He attended St. Augustin Elementary School. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church and was an active parishioner serving as an usher and as a volunteer at the annual parish Christmas Fair. Laurent G. Cormier, 85, of Manchester, died November 2, 2012 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born in Manchester on July 23, 1927 the son of Augustin and Cecile (St. Germaine) Cormier and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City. He attended St. Augustin Elementary School.

He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church and was an active parishioner serving as an usher and as a volunteer at the annual parish Christmas Fair. He was a US Marine Corps veteran during World War II and served in the Pacific Theater and also participated in the Occupation of China.

Larry was the president/owner of Shell Repairing of Manchester and was also the owner of Auburn Building Supply. He was a member of the NE Lumberman's Retail Asso., the Southern NH Home Builder's Asso., the NH Logger's Asso. and the NE Hardwaremen's Asso. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Marion Council #5748 and served as a Past Grand Knight and also as a Past State Officer. He also initiated the Kidney Program for the Knights of Columbus. Although he had many accomplishments, he will be best remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years Grace Cormier in August 2011, by his brother Albert Cormier and his sister Cecile Cormier.

Members of his family include his three daughters Susan Clow and her husband Victor of Auburn, Diane Cormier-Agan and her husband Christopher of Bedford, IN and Patricia DeQuoy and her husband Mark of Rotterdam, NY, his three grandchildren Laurent Clow of Dover, Elyse DeQuoy of Rotterdam, NY and Michelle DeQuoy of VA as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours were held on Monday November 5, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the McHugh Funeral Home 283 Hanover St. corner of Beech St. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday November 6 at 10:30AM in St. Catherine of Siena Church 207 Hemlock St. in Manchester. Burial with military honors followed in St. Augustin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Larry's name to the Visiting Nurse Asso. of Manchester and Southern NH 1070 Holt Ave. Suite 1500 Manchester, NH 03109.
