Lawrence(Larry)Leroy Anderson passed away on August 22, 2012 at home in Fort Lauderdale, FL surrounded by loved ones. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home in Fort Lauderdale, FL. A future memorial service will be held in Des Moines, Iowa. Larry was born in Des Moines, Iowa on November 3, 1944 to Sylvan G. Anderson and Ione Wilson Anderson. He graduated from East High School in Des Moines, Iowa. Lawrence(Larry)Leroy Anderson passed away on August 22, 2012 at home in Fort Lauderdale, FL surrounded by loved ones.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home in Fort Lauderdale, FL. A future memorial service will be held in Des Moines, Iowa.

Larry was born in Des Moines, Iowa on November 3, 1944 to Sylvan G. Anderson and Ione Wilson Anderson. He graduated from East High School in Des Moines, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Germany. After military service, he graduated with distinction from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa with a degree in mechanical engineering. Larry married Dorit Kraus of West Berlin, Germany. They were the parents of two children.

Larry worked for Bechtel for over 35 years. Some of his projects included Milestone Point, Grand Gulf, Indian Point, Damietta Power, West Coast Route Modernization as well as various Bechtel locations. He and Dorit traveled the world on assignment with Bechtel.

Larry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was loving and caring to his family and to his mother, Ione, now 96 years old.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorit and his father, Sylvan Anderson.

Larry is survived by his son Steven Anderson of Arlington, Texas, his daughter, Patricia Anderson of Old Greenwich, Connecticut, his mother, Ione, of Altoona, Iowa, his brother Don(Charlotte)of Waukee, Iowa, his brother Ray(Hazel) of Altoona, Iowa, his grandson, Luke Lawrence Anderson of Arlington, Texas and many nieces and nephews.

He was kind-hearted, soft spoken, caring and a true gentleman. He had a brilliant mind and a humble spirit. He will be missed by family and friends.

Arrangements entrusted to Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
