Lawrence "Larry" Anthony, 77, of Marengo died Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Northwoods Care Centre in Belvidere. He was born July 31, 1934 to Lloyd and Martha (Ritzert) Anthony. He served in the US Marines during the Korean War. On August 14, 1954 he married Gloria Foryes in Marengo. He worked for Arnold Engineering for many years until his retirement in 1991, then worked at Marengo Ridge Golf Club. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, working around the house and yard. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Gloria; son Thomas (Kathleen) Anthony; granddaughters Kimberly (Rick) Olcott, Julie, Susan and Megan Anthony; great-grandsons Braden and Camden Olcott. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Susan Marie Anthony, siblings Bernard, Lloyd, Marcella, Donald, Richard, Herbert, Delores and Joyce.
A memorial visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Thurs. July 5 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy, Marengo. Visitation will continue from 10 am until the time of service at 11 am on Fri. July 6 at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family to be established at a later date.
