Lawrence 'Larry' Eugene Bean of Shoreline, WA passed away on March 26, 2012 at the age of 79. He was born on February 6, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The oldest son of Eugene and Luella Bean, Larry graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle and later from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT (playing both football & baseball for BYU). As a young adult, Larry served a full-time LDS Church mission in West Germany and loved the people there (he loved to sing & speak German often). During his life, Larry served in many Church leadership positions, with teaching the gospel being one of his favorite callings. Larry served in the military for 3 years (U.S. Army), serving as chief chaplain assistant and providing interpreter services for the Judge Advocate General (JAG).

Larry worked for Seattle Sporting Goods (he had a love for all things sports), managing several stores in the area. His passions in life were his family, fishing, hunting, watching sporting events (with ice-cream), and the gospel of Jesus Christ. He married Portia Marlowe on June 9, 1958 and had a very happy life with his beloved family in Shoreline, WA. Each year, Larry looked forward to spending time (and golfing) at Birch Bay in northern Washington for his annual family reunion. In their golden years, Larry and Portia served a LDS mission as housing coordinators for the full-time missionaries of the Everett Washington Mission.

Larry is survived by his wife of 54 years. Larry's four children are as follows: David of Shoreline, Mark (Danna) of Vancouver, Michael (Kristina) of South Jordan, UT, and Diane (Daniel) Olson of Kent. Larry and Portia are the proud grandparents of 14 wonderful grandchildren.

Larry has four siblings including Ron (Sandra), LuAnne (Lynn) Whimpey, Kent (Kathy), and Bob (Cathy).

Services will be held on Tuesday April 3, 2012, 11:00am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-saints, Lake Forest Park Ward building (14901 30th N.E. Shoreline, WA). Interment will take place immediately following the service at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.
