A Memorial Service for Lawrence K. "Mug" Bracy, age 61 of Richmond, VA and formerly Ogdensburg, NY, will be held on Saturday (July 21, 2012) at 2:00pm at Foxwood Memorial Park Chapel with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. Calling Hours will be held also on Saturday from 12:00noon until the time of the service at the Mausoleum. Mr. Bracy passed away Friday (April 6, 2012) after a valiant battle with cancer and heart disease. Mr. Bracy was under the care of Heartland Hospice, and he died at home surrounded by his loving family and five devoted hound dogs. Mr. Bracy passed away Friday (April 6, 2012) after a valiant battle with cancer and heart disease. Mr. Bracy was under the care of Heartland Hospice, and he died at home surrounded by his loving family and five devoted hound dogs.

He is survived by his wife of thirty two years, Susan (Dumas) Bracy; two sons Mr. Lawrence J. Bracy & his wife Tara (Merkel) Bracy of Newport News, VA and Mr. Ryan F. Bracy of Ilion, NY and his fiancée' Amanda McClean of Fredonia, NY.

His parents Lawrence E. & Virginia Bracy predecease him.

Mr. Bracy was a 1968 graduated of Ogdensburg Free Academy in his native Northern New York. He worked as a laborer and truck driver for many years until joining the New York State Department of Correctional Services in 1988, where he worked as a Corrections Officer. He retired from Riverview Correctional Facility in 2004. Mr. & Mrs. Bracy relocated to Richmond, VA in 2005.

In his retirement, Mr. Bracy enjoyed woodworking and donated several handcrafted birdhouses to the annual silent auction to benefit the Heart Failure Clinic at Henrico Doctor's Hospital. Mr. Bracy was a great lover of all animals, and spent countless hours with his precious hounds and was an avid garden bird watcher.
