Life is filled with happy times and sad times. Every day of your life you choose to take the events of the day and either dwell on the sad events, or rise up and make the best of the day and make it as happy as you can. Our family centers around fun and laughter and sharing that fun and laughter with family and friends. Larry fit into our family perfectly. No matter what the situation, he always had something funny to think about and share with the rest of us. Larry always chatted with those around him, even people he didn't know. He often brightened their day with his humor, and made them feel at ease. On one such occasion, while Larry was visiting us in New Jersey, he went to the grocery store with Kathy Wilhelm. While waiting to purchase lottery tickets at the counter, they waited behind an elderly woman who was returning a canister of Pringles potato chips. The woman told the clerk that she was returning the potato chips because they were moldy. She opened the canister and showed the clerk the moldy chips. The clerk replied, These are sour cream and onion flavored potato chips - they are supposed to look that way. The woman repeated, These are moldy. I am going to go get another one off the shelf and open it up to make sure it is not moldy before I take it home. The woman abruptly went on her way to get another canister. Next up was Larry and Kathy. Larry said to the clerk, How many canisters are you going to let that lady open before she realizes that you are right and they are supposed to look like that? The clerk just laughed. Larry was able to cheer the clerk up during a stressful moment. Larry had a way of making people feel welcome. When you do the best you can to make each day happy, you wind up leading a happy life. This is what Larry did well. We will always remember him for making us smile and for all the fun we have had over the years. We will miss him dearly.
Our thoughts and prayers go to Sue, Christy, Scott, Dottie and all the Nevitt family.
