Obituary

Lawrence "Larry" William Wiechers, 88, of Napoleon, Ohio passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 12, 1923 in Napoleon, Ohio to Henry F. and Louise (Wiebeck) Wiechers. He married Lois Sworden on March 9, 1947 and she survives. Larry was a retired farmer and maintenance worker for Maumee Youth Camp. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church of Napoleon, The Gideons International, and the Napoleon American Legion Post 300. He was a graduate of Napoleon High School and received the D.C. Brown award (most valuable player) in football, where he was the league scoring...
Lawrence "Larry" William Wiechers, 88, of Napoleon, Ohio passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 12, 1923 in Napoleon, Ohio to Henry F. and Louise (Wiebeck) Wiechers. He married Lois Sworden on March 9, 1947 and she survives.

Larry was a retired farmer and maintenance worker for Maumee Youth Camp. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church of Napoleon, The Gideons International, and the Napoleon American Legion Post 300. He was a graduate of Napoleon High School and received the D.C. Brown award (most valuable player) in football, where he was the league scoring champ. Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during
W.W. II.

Larry is survived by is wife Lois of 65 years; three sons, John Wiechers, Ron (Jeannie) Wiechers, and Ken (Karen) Wiechers; three daughters, Becky (Jim) Lorcher, Mary Beth (Larry) Weaver, and Loralee (Daryl) Jones; a brother, Karl (Oneta) Wiechers; two sisters, Lora Whitney and Lucille Higgins; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Siegfried, and Norman Wiechers and a sister, Augusta Hefflinger.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 from 5-7 P.M. at the Snyder Wesche Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Emanuel Lutheran Church of Napoleon with Rev. James Castello, Officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Napoleon Township with military honors accorded by the Joint Veterans Posts of Napoleon.

The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International, Hospice of Henry County or a charity of the donor's choice.
