Lazara H. Alvarado was born on March 30, 1911 in Camargo, Mexico. She came to El Paso at age 12 and lived in El Paso her entire life. She died peacefully at home on October 6, 2012 at the age of 101. Preceded in death by her husband Angel R. Alvarado, Sr. She is survived by 7 children: Luis Alfonso, Manuel (Aurora), Angel (Isis), Martha A. Maldonado (Roger), Oscar, Carlos (Irene), Maria Estella Rodela (David). She has 24 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren. She is survived by brothers: Jose, and Amador; sisters: Juana Escarsega, and Mary Concha. Her god daughter Jesusita Fonseca was by her side since childhood. Civic duties included Council for The Aged and Washington Park Senior Citizen Center. Special Thanks to Visiting Nurses Association, Hospice of El Paso, and Dr. Genevieve Belgrave. Appreciation and thanks to health care providers: Diana Rodriguez, Olga Cabral, Hilda Ramirez, Sylvia Perez, and Alma Vasquez. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 5pm to 9pm with rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N. Resler. Funeral mass at Guardian Angel Church on Friday October 12, 2012 at 3021 Frutas Avenue at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery at 401 S. Zaragoza.
