LeRoy Don Rogers Lansing, MI Born June 8, 1923 in Lansing, the son of the late Charles and Alma (Switzer) Rogers, passed away January 4th at the age of 89. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII as a combat medic with Merrill's Marauders in China, Burma and India and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. He also was attached with the Flying Tigers during his service to the U.S. Army. LeRoy retired from the State of Michigan Highway Department as a design engineer after 37 years of service. He also worked as an architect for the Keystone Group in Lansing. He was very artistic and talented as an excellent woodworker,...

Born June 8, 1923 in Lansing, the son of the late Charles and Alma (Switzer) Rogers, passed away January 4th at the age of 89. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII as a combat medic with Merrill's Marauders in China, Burma and India and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. He also was attached with the Flying Tigers during his service to the U.S. Army. LeRoy retired from the State of Michigan Highway Department as a design engineer after 37 years of service. He also worked as an architect for the Keystone Group in Lansing. He was very artistic and talented as an excellent woodworker, and carver using his gifts by volunteering to make toys for the R. J. Scheffel Memorial Toy Project. He also entertained his family and friends as a wonderful guitar player and singer. He was a strong Christian man who will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be sorely missed by all who loved and knew him. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Rogers; and his beloved wife, Stella.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Linda Locher, LeRoy (Delores) Rogers and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Rogers; grandchildren, Jay (Barbara) Rogers, Jeffrey (Angela) Rogers and Melinda (Matthew) Jones; six great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Watson. According to his wishes a private family service will be held. For those desiring, contributions in memory of LeRoy may be made to the R. J. Scheffel Memorial Toy Project, PO Box 23181, Lansing, MI 48909. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes.
