Lee D. Kaan, 85, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away May 10, 2012 . Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 14 at Chapel Hill Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to White Church Christian Church of Kansas City, Kansas. Lee was born March 7, 1927 in Big Sandy, Tennessee, the daughter of Neal and Una Waters. She was a member of White Church Christian Church and involved in their volunteer work. Lee managed the Harvest Moon Motel in Kansas City, Kansas for many years and owned & operated the Sunset Motel In Tonganoxie , Kansas. She befriended everyone & enjoyed helping others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Henry L. Kaan; granddaughter: Nicole Johnson; brothers: Troy Waters & David Roy Waters; sisters: Leather Waters, Janice Burns & Mary Floyce Parrott. Lee loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She is survived by her sons: William Anthony Johnson and wife Pat and Bruce Allan Johnson and wife Amalia; daughter: Tammy Lee Smallwood; 7 grandchildren & 8 great-grandchildren, brother: Inas McKelvey and Warren Waters. We are left with numerous memories and countless stories that will be cherished by us all.
