Lee W. Sarty, Jr. 1930 - 2013 Lee was born in Riverhead, NY in 1930. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BA in history in 1952, and went on to serve in the United States Army. He was a Major upon separation from the Army Reserves. Lee married Joyce DeGoey in 1952, and they were married for 48 years until her death in 2000. Lee started his 37-year career with Traveler's Insurance in 1954 in Hartford, CT. During his career he was personnel manager in the Dallas, Denver, San Diego and Brea offices. Lee W. Sarty, Jr. 1930 - 2013

Lee was born in Riverhead, NY in 1930. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BA in history in 1952, and went on to serve in the United States Army. He was a Major upon separation from the Army Reserves. Lee married Joyce DeGoey in 1952, and they were married for 48 years until her death in 2000.

Lee started his 37-year career with Traveler's Insurance in 1954 in Hartford, CT. During his career he was personnel manager in the Dallas, Denver, San Diego and Brea offices. After spending 18 years in the San Diego office, he retired in 1991.

Lee was an avid sports enthusiast. He was a high school football official for over 20 years, umpired Little League Baseball, and later enjoyed lawn bowling. He served as the President of the Lawn Bowling Club at Joslyn-Lake Hodges Club for several terms.

Lee and Joyce had three children: Lynne Sarty, Betsy (Sarty) Stewart, and Bruce Sarty. Lee married Ardie (Brackett) Sarty in 2001 until her passing in 2007. Ardie has two children, Holly Brackett and Betsy Olsen. In 2008 he married Madeline (Abbate) Sarty who has one son, Mike Geraci. Lee and Madeline enjoyed lawn bowling, dancing and romantic dinners together. Lee was blessed with eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Lee will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had a wonderfully playful sense of humor and was loved by everyone who knew him.

A funeral mass and reception will be held on October 4, 2013, at 1:00 p.m.
