Leo Joseph Caruso, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Tickfaw, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the age of 87. He was a local business owner since 1955, owning multiple grocery businesses. Leo was a veteran of the US Army and was a Purple Heart recipient in WWII. Leo had a passion for hunting and fishing, was an avid LSU fan, and a member of St. Pius Catholic Church. Leo was known for his selflessness and was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather who will be missed dearly by all that knew him. Leo is survived by his loving wife, Marie "Mary" V. Caruso; 5 sons, Mike Caruso and wife Brenda, Dennis Caruso, Gary Caruso, Keith Caruso and wife Traci, and Ricky Caruso and wife Tina; 3 sisters, Katie Caldorera, Josie Heard, and Grace Slevin; 11 grandchildren, Melanie Caruso, Amy Guilliot, Ray Caruso, Blake Caruso, Blaire Caruso, Courtney Caruso, Kyle Caruso, Darion Caruso, Mark Caruso, Katie Caruso, and Jacob Caruso; 8 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Matteo and Sarah Caruso; granddaughter, Melissa Ann Caruso; and siblings, Angelo Caruso, Fannie Caruso, Mary Ogima, Twana Trobona, Frances Mattera, and Frank Caruso. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Monday, January 21, 2013 from 5pm until 9 pm, and resume on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at St. Pius Catholic Church from 11am until Mass of Christian Burial at 1pm.
