Leo Paul Lamoureux 91, of 15 Frost Street, Marlborough, NH died at his home on Saturday morning, December 29, 2012 after a sudden illness.

He was born in St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, Canada on June 25, 1921 the son of Joseph and Florence (Pelletier) Lamoureux. His family moved to Keene several years after his birth.

Growing up in Keene he met and married Norma (Knight) in 1942 and they lived in Marlborough for virtually all of their lives. Leo was drafted during WW II and served honorably as a medical corpsman with the 28th General Hospital Detachment in France and Belgium. During his service in Europe he was naturalized as a US Citizen. Following the war he returned to Marlborough where he worked in several local factories, raised his family and continued to be an active participant in the community. Since 1945 he belonged to the Marlborough Post 24 American Legion where he has proudly served in all possible roles over the years. He was also a member of the National VFW and in the past few years has also been an active member of the Odd Fellows.

Leo worked hard to make the lives of others comfortable and enjoyable. He was the consummate handyman, building practically anything out of wood. He built the camp on Stone Pond, restored apartments in his home, built beds, bureaus, cabinets, birdhouses, chairs, stools, toys, etc. In just the past few weeks he constructed a TV stand for his grandson, Christian. He often made lawn ornaments or toys that he gave to the local church for their holiday sales. He was a quiet man who let his actions fill the space instead of words. He also enjoyed social activities with family and friends. Anytime there was a card game, dominoes or other activity at the Community House or at Pierce Apartments he was there. During the past several years he established a wonderful friendship with Mary who was the light of his life in motivating him and keeping him upbeat about life. Largely because of her he continued to live his life moving forward with a smile and a positive focus.

Leo is survived by his two sons; Charles "Chip" Lamoureux of Marlborough, NH and his son Leo Lamoureux of Kennebunk, ME; a brother Edward Lamoureux and a sister Theresa Madison both of Keene, NH; four grandsons; Christopher, Nicholas, Nathan, and Christian and three great-grandchildren; Alexa, Jeremy, and Jacob as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Norma in 2004, his parents as well as 10 of his twelve brothers and sisters.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene on Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Liturgy of the Word will be offered at the funeral home on Friday morning, Jan. 4th at 11:00 a.m. Spring burial will be in the Meetinghouse Cemetery in Marlborough where military honors will be offered.

For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Marl-Harris Ambulance c/o Memorials, PO Box 399, Marlborough, NH 03455 or to the Marlborough Alumni Association, c/o Sue Bemis, 47 Laurel Street, Marlborough, NH 03455.
