CANOVA- Leon B. Canova, Sr., 87, passed away June 9, 2012. He was born in St. Augustine and was a longtime resident of Mayport. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Canova was a commercial fisherman/shrimper.
Survivors include his children, Judy Canova, Jane Steen, Jeannie Adkins, Janice Armstrong, Wanda Steen, Leon Canova, Jr., and Carl Canova; a sister, Leona; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Atlantic Beach, 1050 Mayport Rd. Interment will follow in Beaches Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach.
