Funeral services for retired Sfc. Leon Harvey, 71, of Killeen, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 5, at Pershing Park Baptist Church with Hallie Tolbert, Jr., Pastor of Westside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at 1 p.m. at Central Texas State Veteran's Cemetery. He resided in Killeen 31 years, where he retired active duty military in 1978 with 20 years of service, and retired as a paramedic at Darnell Army Medical Center with 23 years of service. He served as a Trustee and Deacon Chairman of Westside Baptist Church and was an active member of The Gideons International. Mr. Harvey died...
Funeral services for retired Sfc. Leon Harvey, 71, of Killeen, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 5, at Pershing Park Baptist Church with Hallie Tolbert, Jr., Pastor of Westside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at 1 p.m. at Central Texas State Veteran's Cemetery.

He resided in Killeen 31 years, where he retired active duty military in 1978 with 20 years of service, and retired as a paramedic at Darnell Army Medical Center with 23 years of service. He served as a Trustee and Deacon Chairman of Westside Baptist Church and was an active member of The Gideons International.

Mr. Harvey died February 24, 2010, at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Temple. He was born March 5, 1938, in Bellville, Texas, to Elittie and Nathan Harvey, Sr.. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Opal Harvey of Oakland, CA and Jesse Harvey of Houston.

Survivors include his wife, Erma Harvey of Killeen; son, Robert A. Brown, Jr. of Austin; three daughters, Vanessa J. Sauls of Waco, Angela H. Warner of DeSoto, Jennifer N. Harvey of Houston, grandsons; Robert A. Brown, III of Killeen, Derek Brown of Prairie View, granddaughters; Shemika and Jessica Young of Killeen, and Brooke Warner of DeSoto.
Visitation is 6-8p.m. Thursday, March 4 at Crawford- Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen and 10:00 a.m. prior to services on Friday, March 5, at Pershing Park Baptist Church.
