Obituary

Leonard Switalski, 88, of Martinsburg, WV passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Martinsburg VAMC. Born June 15, 1924 in Haydentown, PA, son of the late Edward Switalski and Christian Lynn Switalski. Leonard served our country in WWII in the US Army, Normandy Campaign, France; June 1944 to May 1945, received the Soldier's Medal for risking one's life to save another's; Good Conduct Medal for Honorable and Faithful Service; American Theater Service Medal to recognize those who performed duty during WWII; EAME Theater Service Medal with Four Bronze Stars for serving four campaigns during WWII; Victory Medal (Ribbon) for military...
Leonard Switalski, 88, of Martinsburg, WV passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Martinsburg VAMC.

Born June 15, 1924 in Haydentown, PA, son of the late Edward Switalski and Christian Lynn Switalski.

Leonard served our country in WWII in the US Army, Normandy Campaign, France; June 1944 to May 1945, received the Soldier's Medal for risking one's life to save another's; Good Conduct Medal for Honorable and Faithful Service; American Theater Service Medal to recognize those who performed duty during WWII; EAME Theater Service Medal with Four Bronze Stars for serving four campaigns during WWII; Victory Medal (Ribbon) for military service during WWII.

He attended the Church of the Brethren of Martinsburg from 1952-2013; A life member of Norwalk Antique Car Club from 1951 to 2013; and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by Edward, Charles, and Mary Ellen Switalski.

Leonard is survived by his wife of 65 years Margaret Switalski; one daughter, Darlene Switalski and her husband Dennis Lydon; one brother, Kenneth Switalski of; five sisters, Florence Brady, Christine Moats, Ada Parker, Dorothy Catalogna, and Loretta Arbogast; one grandson, Christopher Aikens and wife Christine; one granddaughter, Candace Aikens and husband Matt Edmondson; and one great grandson, Damien Leonard Aikens.

Visitation will be Friday, May 24, 2013 from 6pm to 8pm at Rosedale Funeral Home in Martinsburg, WV.

Funeral Services will be held at Rosedale Funeral Home at 2pm on Saturday, May 25, 2013.
Interment will immediately follow at Rosedale Cemetery with military rites.
