Leonor Arreola Palacios, 86, of Chula Vista, California passed away on March 16, 2015 at her daughter's home in Chula Vista. Leonor was born to Jose Arreola and Adela Ibarra, both of Mexico, on January 5, 1929 in Mexicali, Mexico. She came to the United States in 1944, at 15 years of age, and proudly became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States on April 17, 1953 at the age of 24. She had seven children, 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She worked in housekeeping for many years at the Bahia and Intercontinental Hotels in San Diego, earning the title of Housekeeper of the Month at the Bahia more than once. Her work ethic was strong, which she passed on to her children.
Leonor was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Lewis Brewer and Juan Thompson; her sisters Petra Gomez, Geno Carrillo and Cecelia Villela all of Mexico; two children, Edward Garza and Tere Thompson Rodriquez; granddaughter Jayme Green Messias; great grandson Ryan Reyes and son-in-law James Vicars.
She is survived by her husband Manuel Palacios; brother David Arreola Ibarra of Mexico and sister Josefina Araiza of Los Angeles ; daughter Adela Brewer Vicars of Santee, California, daughter and son-in-law Susie Brewer High and Mike High of Arlington, Texas, son and daughter-in-law Danny and Sharlene Brewer, daughter and son-in-law Susana Thompson Swett and Jeff Swett, and daughter Lisa Thompson Rodriguez, all of Chula Vista, California; grandchildren Susie Vicars Reyes and her husband Ric, Cassandra Vicars Goebel, John Williksen, Colleen Williksen Sanders, Autumn Bailey, Kristina Garza Brutto and her husband Jonathan, Leonor Swett Easley and her husband Adam, Delores Swett Becker and her husband Mike, Victoria Garza Mata and her husband Jesus, Jeffrey Swett, Daniel Rodriguez, Dakota Garza, Joey Rodriguez, Shaena Garza and Angel Rodriguez; great grandchildren Lindsey Reyes , Danielle Sanders, Isabella Ortega, Nate Sanders, Adriana Brutto, Alexis Messias, Daniel Reyes, Audrey Swett, Adrian Messias, Dominic Rodriguez, Susana Easley, Melanie Swett, Dexter Becker and Sofia Mata; many nieces and nephews.
Glen Abbey Mortuary is in charge of final arrangements. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Little Chapel of the Roses at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita. A Reception Luncheon will follow at the Little Lodge at Glen Abbey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leonor's memory to St Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
