Mr. Leroy "Pop" Oliver was born July 2, 1948 in Sylvania, Georgia and passed away May 14, 2017 in East Point, Georgia at the age of 68.
Leroy was preceded in death by His parents James and Lillie Mae Oliver; five siblings, James Oliver Jr., President Oliver, Ebenezer Oliver, Ella Mae Oliver and Azarine Brayboy.
Leroy lived a joyful, energetic and peaceful life. he touched so many lives in so many different ways. He was known for his punch lines such as "keep it under 80" and "not that". Leroy was a giving, loving and kindhearted gentleman that will be truly missed by many.
Leroy leaves to cherish his memories, wife of 43 years Jo Helen Oliver; one daughter, Adrienne (John) Starks; two granddaughters, Deandria "Angel" Lewis and Ashley Lewis; one honorary grandson Colburn Shelton; five brothers, Dan (Yvonne) Oliver, Frank Oliver, Melvin Oliver, Alvin (Benny) Oliver and Johnny (Gloria) Oliver; two sisters, Sue Oliver and Pearlie Mae Jackson a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, May 19, 2017 from 4pm until 8pm at Tara Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Georgia. Funeral Service will be Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 1pm at Tara Garden Chapel. Mr. Oliver will lie in state one hour prior to service. Pastor Raphael Hodo officiating. Interment Sherwood Memorial Park and Mausoleum.
