Lt. Jernigan was good man and I have a lot of fun memories of him. He introduced me to "DEER MEAT". He gave me some chili made with deer meat and made me a believer that it was better than beef. My prayers and thoughts are with you all. Josephine Ford (Correctional Officer at Rutledge State Prison from 1989-1993)

Pat,
We missed seeing you and Leroy at the Jernigan family reunion this year. You two were always a staple and we looked forward to seeing you. I can't believe that Leroy was 81--you both look and act so much younger. Maybe it was because of the smiles on your faces and the positive outlook on life--the results of a life of purpose. Draw on your faith, lean on the arms of Jesus. It's going to be a long, hard road ahead, but He will be there to hold you up as you have need.

I loved my uncle dearly he was one of the kindest human beings I ever met. My special memory of him is when my Daddy his brother was in his last weeks in the hospital. Uncle Leroy and Aunt Pat drove down to Pensacola and stayed at the hospital with me for weeks. I don't know what I would have done without them. I Love you Uncle LeRoy until we meet again.

I am so thankful to be his niece. He was a very strong man who could show a sweet tenderness when he saw that it was needed. He was devoted to his wife and family but always had love to spare which reached out to everyone that knew him. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
