LeRoy Taylor Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 9, 2013.

LeRoy D. Taylor; age 87; of Rochester, MI, passed away on November 8, 2013, surrounded by family. Lee will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 65 years, Kappy (nee Marjorie Kathleen Sims), and their children, Barbara and Larry Stringer of Rochester, Douglas and Martha Taylor of Newtown, PA, and David and Lisa Taylor of Traverse City. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, who will always remember the humor, easy-going nature, and devotion of their "Grandpa Lee".

The son of Irwin and Lena Mae Taylor (nee Plassey), Lee was born in Highland Park, MI and grew up on the eastside of Detroit, where he graduated from Pershing High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and his Master's from Wayne State University. As a career engineer and executive with Sperry Vickers, Lee built his life with Kappy in Rochester, where they have been active in the community for decades. As a charter member of the Brookwood Golf Club, Lee was an avid golfer and enjoyed days spent on the links with Kappy and their dear friends. He was also a member of the First Congregational Church of Rochester. In addition to his unwavering love and support, Lee shared his passion for travel, dogs, sports, and reading with his family.

A celebration of his life will be held on November 23, 2013 at the First Congregational Church of Rochester, 1315 Pine St.,
Rochester, at 2:00 pm. The family asks that any tributes or memorials may be directed to Rochester Hills Public Library or the First Congregational Church Rochester in Lee's honor. Family and friends wishing to share a thought or memory of Lee are welcomed to do so online at www.pixleyfuneral.com.

Dear Kappy and Family, Bob and I were deeply saddened to hear of Lee's passing. You are in our prayers and thoughts. We were just talking how much fun we had Sunday nights on the tennis courts. Good old days to look back on.

OTTO LANGOSCH

Dear Kappy,
As you may remember, when I was transferred at the end 1974 from Bad Homburg to work at Troy, I reported to Lee, who was the VP Engineering for the International Group of Sperry Vickers at that time. I succeeded him in that position, when he became VP Far East & Latin America. Working for Lee and with him at the President's staff was a pleasure. Lee was a very dependable, intelligent and fair officer for the Company.

Our sympathy to you, dear Kappy & family in this difficult time of your great loss, Otto and Renate Langosch.

Howard Sculthorpe

Kappy & family,
I was terribly saddened to hear of Lee's passing. Since we lived just south of you on Livernois, I occasionally traded rides with Lee. One time I called Lee while I was at breakfast to request a ride to the office in Troy. The muffled voice at the other end said "Howard - are you in Bad Hamburg?" Obviously I woke the poor guy up after returning from one of his many long, tiring overseas flights. I'll always remember him as a kind, very intelligent, gentle man and gentleman.

Sorry to Hear of Lee's passing. I worked for Lee when he managed R&D for Vickers. He was the nicest and most competent manager I ever worked for.
