Leslie Gordon Hart, 90, of the Holly Grove area of Louisa County, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2013. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Disrude and his son, Martin Gregory Hart. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carrie (Caren) Hart; daughter, Mary Hart Blackmon; two sons, Walter Geoffrey Hart and wife, Pam and Daniel Whitney Hart and wife, Dee; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew and two longtime friends, Avron Berman and wife, Mickey of Cocoa Beach, Florida. Mr. Hart served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and retired from Frito-Lay as an Operations Manager after 36 years of service. He was also a longtime member of Gum Spring United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 9271 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, Virginia 23116. A graveside service will be held at Signal Hill Memorial Park for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Virginia 23060 or the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Virginia 23060.

Caren, I was so sorry to hear your sad news about Les. He was like a second father to me while working with him at Frito-Lay and continuing both of your friendships after leaving. I regret it had been a while since we had been in touch. Les was a very compassionate and understanding man and he never met a stranger. I will remember him always.
