Lester Tullos Carr, 89, passed away at home Friday, April 18, 2014, in Brandon, MS. Services will be held 11:00am Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson, MS with a visitation one hour prior. Burial is to follow at Natchez Trace Memorial Park.
Lester was born May 19, 1924 in Raleigh, MS to the late Albert and Cordie Carr. He graduated from Mississippi State University. Residing in Jackson since 1954, he worked in Insurance for 33 years, having worked as a Commercial Underwriting Manager with Zurich Insurance Co. and Rankin County Bank. He also served as President for the Rankin County Coordinating Committee. Lester was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of First Baptist Church of Fannin.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Irene Carr; son, Nelson Tullos Carr; and sisters, Fay Whitehead, Ina Pace, Alice Ruth Owens, and Dimple Cook.
Survivors include his daughter, Colleen (Lee) Helms; sisters, Mavis Burch, Edna Earl McNair, and Clariece Calahan; and granddaughter, Leslee Frair.
