On Thursday May 11, 2017 Letha J. Mott slipped away to eternal peace. She had fought long and hard
to defeat the health issues that ultimately took her life. She set a shining example of bravery and
courage to all that knew her.
Letha's entire life was centered on her family. She was preceded in death by her one true love, Bill
Mott. They married on July 12, 1952 and started a family of love and devotion. She leaves behind
daughter, Willeen and her husband Randy Benton, daughter Diane and her husband Jeff Stark, and son
Mark Mott and his wife Gloria. There are 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Each one of them
felt her unstoppable love and knew that they were special in their own way. She shared her love and
caring ways with extended family and friends. Her smile was infectious. her laughter, consuming.
Letha was also preceded in death by her Mother Eslie, Father Floyd, Sister Mari, Brother Alton and
Daughter-in-Law Karen.
Letha delighter in being a stay at home mom for many years. She started driving school bus for
Modesto City Schools in 1966. After moving their family to Hughson, she became a classroom aide
which ultimately lead to her position as school librarian, a position she absolutely loved. Reading to the
children and helping them develop the love for reading was very gratifying to her.
Time away from work was family time. She and Bill loved camping. Every Friday night, they were
prepared to leave as soon as Bill got home. Many times, other families would join them. The kids always
had friends along. Be it the mountains or the beach, with friends or alone, laughter, good food and fond
memories were made on each and every trip.
Our lives will be forever formed and changed by this wonderful lady. may each one of you cherish your
memories of her and apply that love to the persons that mean the most to you.
