Levern Meriwether, 96, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born October 31, 1916 in Ava, Missouri to Ercell and Ida Malloy. She married Norman Meriwether on May 26, 1945. They were married 54 years. Levern and Norman owned and operated The House of Clay in Oklahoma City since 1950. Levern worked at the shop, lived at home, and drove her car until the last year of her life. She was active in her church, Northwest Baptist Church, for many years. Levern Meriwether, 96, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born October 31, 1916 in Ava, Missouri to Ercell and Ida Malloy. She married Norman Meriwether on May 26, 1945. They were married 54 years. Levern and Norman owned and operated The House of Clay in Oklahoma City since 1950. Levern worked at the shop, lived at home, and drove her car until the last year of her life. She was active in her church, Northwest Baptist Church, for many years. She made many friends through her church and work. Although she outlived most of them, she will be missed by remaining family and friends. Levern will be remembered for generously giving to her church and charities such as the Oklahoma Food Bank, the Red Cross, the City Rescue Mission, and Billy Graham Missions. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman; sisters Lorene Cabe and Sally Gray; brother Fred Malloy; and granddaughter Jessica Newton. She is survived by her sister, Mary Lou Herring; daughters Judith Wagenseller and Norma Newton and her husband, Phillip; three granddaughters, Melody Black and her husband Jason, Christine Newton, and Hattie Wagenseller; great-grandchildren Hattie Colvert, Jordan and Brinker Black; and many nieces and nephews.
Guests are welcome to visit with the family for the viewing on Sunday, January 20 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Hahn Cook/Street & Draper, 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City. A graveside service for family will be Monday, January 21, 2013 at 10:00 am at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to NW Baptist Church, 3030 NW 23, Oklahoma City, 73107.
