Lewis Eugene “Gene” “Lew” Hedrick, 76, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017 at Beckley VAMC following a long illness.
Born on June 19, 1940 at Clifftop, he was the son of the late Homer Holland Hedrick Sr. and Lillie Permenter Hedrick.
Mr. Hedrick was a retired Army Combat Veteran with over 21 years of Service.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur L. Hedrick and Larry D. Hedrick Sr.; one sister, Linda Bryant.
Left to cherish his memory includes his wife of 48 years, Martha Ann Hedrick; a daughter, Melissa Skaggs; a son, James Michael Hedrick, both of Fayetteville; a brother, Homer H. Hedrick Jr. of Timberville, VA; a sister, Callie Blake of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Friday, February 3, 2017 at Red Star Baptist Church, Glen Jean. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill.
The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until service time on Friday at the church.
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at VAMC, Beckley.
