Lewis Elbyrne Watson, 90, of Margate, FL passed away June 17, 2017. He was born August 8, 1926 in Bedford County, Va. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy and a Master's Degree in Agriculture from the University of FL with full professorship.
He and his wife Jean moved to Ft Lauderdale, FL in 1954 where he served as the Broward County Agricultural Extension Director for 32 years.
He honorably served his country in the USAF for 20 years, including time in Europe after WW2, and then continued his time in the Reserve Corp at Homestead Air Force Base as a Major.
Lewis loved working with people, whether it was assisting the farming communities with their crops, or homeowners with their ornamental gardens. He had a passion for his own garden in his retirement years and enjoyed serving his homeowners association at Paradise Gardens.
He loved sharing stories about his life and was very generous of heart to everyone. He will be remembered as a true Southern Gentleman.
He is survived by his wife Jean of 64 years, daughters Linda, Sandra, Jennifer, son in law Ronald, siblings Vernell & Isabel, and granddaughter Laura.

Dear Jean and family. I will always remember him for how sweet, loving and attentive he was to all, but specially to his wife. His second love after his family were the plants. Always helping everyone, answering and helping with their gardens. Donating beautiful plants to the Association and the clubhouse. A true gentleman in every way. Gods Garden will have a great caretaker. God bless you all.

He was a gentle loving man and his beautiful smile will linger in my heart always! I never met anyone who loved his wife as much as he did and his daughters too, He will be greatly missed and my prayers will be with you as a family as you lay him to rest in the morning. It is so comforting to know he is at peace and is receiving his reward from our Heavenly Father! My love Betty
