Lilia "Liling" Guevara Doreza, 99, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the loving home of her family in Gurnee, Illinois.
Liling was born on July 25, 1918, in Iloilo, Philippines, to Lorenzo and Rosario (Gavilan) Guevara. In her time in Iloilo, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Colegio de San José. This was a result of her affection for caring of young minds as a career educator, which led to her teaching first and second grade students at St. Vincent De Paul Learning Center and retiring at the age of 60. She also spent time as a choir member at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, and owned and managed a local dress shop.
Liling married Major Primo Doreza, the love of her life for 61 years, on March 28, 1942 at the Jaro Cathedral. Her husband's love for her was ensured by Liling's loyalty and devotion to her family.
Liling was blessed with a large and loving family and is survived by her children, Mariano (Bella) Doreza, Rosalinda (Conrado) Doreza Dizon, Esmeraldo (Pat) Doreza and Resurrection (Mae) Doreza; her grandchildren, Franz Doreza, Fritz Doreza, Karl (Jessica) Doreza, William Doreza, Sarah Doreza, Paul (Susan) Dizon, Lilian Dizon, John Dizon, Maranda Doreza, RM Doreza and JM Doreza; her great-grandchildren, Oliver Doreza, Hadley Doreza, Isabel Dizon and Olivia Dizon; and her siblings, Patricio Guevara and Victoria Guevara Gachon.
In addition to her husband and son, Primo and Edsel Doreza, she was predeceased by her siblings, Roberto, Feling and Teodoro.
Please join her family in celebrating Liling's life. Her final visitation will be at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Gurnee, Illinois at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018 with the Funeral Mass to follow at 12:00 pm noon. A wake will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, Illinois, 60031

What a beautiful woman, such a beautiful life. So much of her talent, joy and love has been passed on to her descendants. May she rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon her.

Such a special woman. I had lost my mom and dad at the young age of 73. When I joined the Doreza Family ( married Essy Doreza) over 20 years ago Lola became my mom and Primo my dad. We could talk and laugh for hours, enjoying Sunday picnics and music....little did I know I had gained a new family of thousands scattered everywhere! Family gatherings we filled with wonderful food, lots of laughing, did I mention lots of food and so many smiling loving people. I found a special connection with mom. She knows my deepest secrets, my times of sorrow and my happy moments! If I cried she would pat my hand and assure me life was confusing and exciting for everyone. She was right, oh the lives must live and the mountains we must climb. Her sweet words of encouragement she would share with me saved me. I am blessed to have you mom in my life and I am honored to be your daughter in law! You are forever in my heart.....until we meet again.
