Mrs. Lillian Emmie Lam, 92, a former resident of McGaheysville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday afternoon, March 9, 2013 at Sunnyside Retirement Community.
A daughter of the late Walter and Gracie Brogan Atkins, she was born on June 3, 1920 in Franklin County, VA and lived the majority of her life in McGaheysville. She was a member of the New Hope Christian Church. She loved the Lord and enjoyed going to church on Sunday. She was an animal lover, and enjoyed being with family.
She lived at Sunnyside Retirement Community and made many good friends there. The family would like to thank the 3rd floor assisted living staff at Sunnyside for the great care they gave her.
On June 6, 1953 she married Layton Winfield Lam who preceded her to Heaven on Aug. 12, 1996.
She is survived by one son, Nelson Janney and partner, Linda of Moneta, VA; three daughters, Mary Blankenship and husband, James, of Salem, VA; Evelyn Landes and husband Rev. Al of Keezletown, and Shirley Landes and husband, Carl, of Harrisonburg. She has numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Her body will be cremated at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home and Crematory. There will be a time of fellowship for family and friends at the Meredith Sunnyside Chapel from 1:00 until 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Private interment will be at a later date.

Al and Evelyn So sorry to hear about Lillian. We just had prayer for her at Church on Sunday. She was a wonderful lady and I know that she will be missed. will be praying for peace for you all and the family. She had a good life and we will see her in heaven one day.
