Lillian M. Croner, age 89, of Rhinelander died Friday, December 28, 2012 at Friendly Village Nursing Home. Lillian was born in Wittenberg, Wisconsin on April 6, 1923, the daughter of Gust and Minnie (Kopp) Krebs. She attended schools in Argon, Laona, and later the family moved to Rhinelander where she attended Rhinelander High School. She grew up on a farm where at an early age she learned how to be self sufficient. She married George John Croner and they moved to Milwaukee living their for awhile. Lillian was born in Wittenberg, Wisconsin on April 6, 1923, the daughter of Gust and Minnie (Kopp) Krebs. She attended schools in Argon, Laona, and later the family moved to Rhinelander where she attended Rhinelander High School. She grew up on a farm where at an early age she learned how to be self sufficient. She married George John Croner and they moved to Milwaukee living their for awhile. They then moved back to Rhinelander. She was employed at Lindey Cleaners working there for fourteen years as a Steam press Operator. She also worked at the Oneida County Fairgrounds, as well as cleaning homes in Rhinelander.
Lillian enjoyed being outdoors, picking pine cones and mushrooms, fishing with the family especially at Town Line Lake. She also enjoyed cats, dogs, parakeets, fish, and the lone whistle of a train. She will be remembered by her children for the twelve day before Christmas, four socks were hung in the house and filled each day with boxes of raisins or nuts. The amount in each sock depended on how good the kids were each day.
She is survived by her children; George (Leone) Croner, Gloria (Huey) Lundberg, and Zelda (Raymond) Wiedeman all of Rhinelander, eleven grandchildren,Wanda (Steve) Woog, Molly (Becky) Cook, Jessie (Jeremie) Hedricks, James (Tricia) Croner, Ginger (Todd) Terzinski, Patsy Zastrow, Mitzi (Trent) Johnson, Larry (Kimberly) Zastrow, Heidi (Timothy) Thilmany, and Ron (Deb) Bartholomew, twenty seven great-grandchildren, Paige, and Tanner Cook, Aleah Hedricks, Brock, Tyde, and Saydee Terzinski, Raymond and Zelda McCarty, Gage and Crystal Blackwell, Vance, Katie, Lacie, Allie, and Zoie Johnson, Maxwell Zastrow, Ashley and Jacob Croner, Destiny (Chris) Bittle, Josh (Nicole) Marten and Justin (Lindsey) Marten, Alese and Marisa Bartholomew, and ten great-great-grandchildren, Dalton McCarty, Akaidin and Makalie Jaskie, Bradley, Faith, and Americus Bittle, Khole, Draysyn, Madalyn, and Landan Marten. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gust and Minnie Krebs, an infant child, one daughter, Georgia (Frank) Occhipinti, one brother, Aaron Krebs and George J. Croner.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 11 AM at the Hildebrand-Russ Funeral Home with Chaplain John Uhlarik officiating. Visitation will be Thursday morning from 9 AM until the time of the service. Interment will take place at Forest Home Cemetery. Pallbearers will be George Croner, Raymond Wiedeman, Ron Bartholomew, Trent Johnson, Brock Terzinski, Tyde Terzinski, and Todd Terzinski, Honorary pallbearer, Huey Lundberg.
