The family of Lina Austin Bryant is deeply saddened to announce the loss of this wonderful lady. She passed away on Sunday, November 28. Lina was a true southern lady, born and reared in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Irma Mae Austin. One of four daughters, she graduated from Istrouma High School. It is there that she met and married her husband of 55 years, Kenneth Bryant. Together they had four children, John, Stephen, Michael and Laura. Lina worked beside her husband in many endeavors, that, in the course of time allowed them to provide well for their family and travel the world. While she enjoyed their many journeys, she loved returning to the home she designed for her family in River Ridge, Louisiana. Overseeing the construction of the home, ensuring it truly reflected their lifestyle, gave them a home they have enjoyed for nearly 40 years. Lina was beloved in her roles as wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to many. She was an avid reader and lover of poetry, which she also wrote. Lina was an artist in the kitchen and no family member, friend, stranger nor stray animal ever left her home hungry. She is survived by her husband, her four children, three grandchildren, Samantha, Joshua and Dominick, and her newborn, first great-grandchild, Kevin. Preceded in death by her sister, Gayle, Lina is survived by her sisters, Madoline and Irma. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and dear friends. Though sorely missed, she shall forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Leitz-Egan Funeral Home Chapel, 4747 Veterans Memorial Hwy,, Metairie, on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until service time. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the cancer fighting charity of your choice.
