Linda Etchegaray Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 13, 2016.

Linda Lee Etchegaray went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 13, 2016. Linda was born in Waldron, Arkansas to Johnny Lee Gallimore and Lessie Irene Gallimore, both of whom preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her life-long love and husband of 34 years, Raymond Etchegaray.
Linda graduated from Smiley High School in Houston, Texas and began her life shortly after as a devoted wife and mother. After a couple of moves to California, she and Raymond found roots in Houston, Texas and purchased the home where she lived until her passing.
She retired from Aldine Independent School District after 30 years of service in the Transportation Department. Linda enjoyed fishing, dancing, playing cards, board games and later in life computer games. But most of all she enjoyed smiling. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Linda is survived by her three children; Raymond D. Etchegaray (Butch) and wife Cherie, Kelly Y. Etchegaray-Russell and husband Steven, Joseph G. Etchegaray and wife Melissa; four grandchildren: Rachel L. Baucom and husband Billy Ray, Jordan D. Russell, Megan D. Etchegaray (Dani) and Caleb G. Etchegaray; two great-grandchildren: Abigayle C. Baucom and Amelia E. Baucom. Others who held Linda in high regard and were near and dear to her heart; Anna Ochoa, Michael Hulgan and Lil Frakes.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2016 in the Family Chapel at Brookside Funeral Home followed with a burial in Brookside Memorial Park & Cemetery.

I started first grade in Boles, AR with Linda and then later we came to Waldron High School, and my husband James and I were in class with her, we thought she graduated here, I was sure that I walked with her in graduation, I am DeAnna (Holleman) Jeffery and I've been trying to contact Linda online for a few years but was never able to hear from her. I am a beautician (of 53 years here in Waldron) and I've done Johnnie Sue Rogers hair many times, she called to let me know how to find the obit. I also did Jimmie's hair many years ago. Linda left here soon after we graduated and I lost contact with her. Our prayers are with your family. I enjoyed knowing Linda in our 'younger' years..........

It's been 40+ years since I last saw my aunt Linda. That hasn't blurred my memories of her kindness to me when I was a kid though. For my cousins no doubt your skies grew dim with her passing, but look at how bright the skies have become in heaven.
