Linda Jane Sherrill died Wednesday the 6th of December at Deaconess Health Care Center. She was the loving daughter of Oscar Sterling Sherrill (deceased) and Betty Jane Oliger (deceased). Born in 1959 and a life long resident of Oklahoma, Linda graduated from Putnam City High School in 1978.
Linda enjoyed a twenty three year career with Marriott Food Services until her retirement in 2000.
Although Linda was born with Downs Syndrome, she had a full and blessed life. She loved photography, music, special Olympics, sports of all kinds and family. Those of us who had the pleasure of knowing Linda are better human beings for the experience, she taught us much.
She is survived by her four brothers (David, Carl, Mike and Russell) and three sisters (Laura Bruner, Nita Brooks and Rita Sherrill) as well as a multitude of extended family. She was preceded in death by brother John Otis Sherrill.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Linda will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Special Olympics or the Alzheimer's Association.

We send our love and prayers for peace through this difficult time. I myself learned alot about life and love growing up sharing family time with Linda. It couldn't be more true than us all saying we are better human beings because of her. That was a perfect statement. Linda will be missed but find comfort in knowing that she is in a perfect place of beauty and breath taking views. Somewhere that she doesn't have to worry about the time and can take all the pictures she desires. Lots of love from the Illinois cousins

Linda was a special child because the Sherrill family stood strong and against the norm when Linda was a little girl. They mainstreamed Linda and allowed her to grow up in that wonderful family of 9 brothers and sisters with Tony and Betty always welcoming you into their home. Linda would absolutely light up my day when I would go to their home to hang out with Carl and see the whole family, especially this time of year. She would run up to me and give me a hug and was so sweet and forever smiling. Congratulations to the entire Sherrill family for allowing Linda to to live a long fulfilled life with the support of each and every one of you. Not having seen you all in such a long time has not lessened the respect and admiration I have held for each of you. You love for your sister stood out and was an absolute beacon of light in our society. God bless you all and God love you Linda.
Respectfully,
Gordon Thomas
