Obituary

Serrano, Lisa Jeanne passed away on August 13, 2014 after an arduous battle against congestive heart failure and has now become one of the brightest angel stars in our galaxy. Lisa knew no stranger in her brief lifetime. She was a loving, kind and generous person who would do whatever she could to help someone in need. She loved the many things that interested her and she put her all into everything she did. From her days as the Vice President of the Town-n-Country Baseball park, where her rambunctious voice could be heard cheering on her son’s baseball teams, as well as each and every other player, to her time as a bus driver for...

From her days as the Vice President of the Town-n-Country Baseball park, where her rambunctious voice could be heard cheering on her son’s baseball teams, as well as each and every other player, to her time as a bus driver for the Hernando County School System, where each and every one of her passengers were considered her child, from whom she demanded respect by earning it through her charm, whit, fairness and respect for all. It was a very sad day for her when she had to retire in 2007 due to her deteriorating health. All youngsters and teenagers in heaven are in great hands now. Lisa is survived by the love of her life, Miguel Serrano- her husband of 28 years, her sons Michael Philip Serrano (Brittney) and Joseph Alberto Serrano (Carissa), along with her parents Philip and Carole Smith and her mother-in-law Zulima Serrano. Also surviving are her three sisters whom she adored and in turn adored her; Lori Ann Corrales, Leeann Marie Smith, and Lynda Suzanne Smith; her sister-in-law Cecelia Monacelli (Gene) and brother-in-law Ernesto Serrano; Her beloved nieces and nephews, Veronica Shepherd (Brian), Roland Corrales, Kristi Richardson (Jason), Emma Manser, Philip Smith (Nicole), Christopher Smith (Nancy), Christopher and Steven Monacelli. Lisa was also survived by her adored great nieces and nephews, who she spoiled until her heart was content; Kayla, Brayden, Jenna, Jaiden, Karlysia and Easton (whom she was able to see brought into this world, bringing her immense joy), and her many beloved Aunts Uncles, Cousins and Friends, although too many to list, they know how much she loved each one of them. Lisa was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Dorothea and Henry Hinsch, and her paternal grandparents, her beloved Josephine and Clayton Gordon, along with many other close family members. Our hearts are broken but will mend when we meet Lisa again in heaven. Sleep well our precious angel. No more pain, no more fears in heaven. Family will receive friends from 2-4pm on Sunday, August 17 at the Blount & Curry Funeral Homes, Oldsmar/West Hillsborough Chapel, 6802 Silvermill Dr, Tampa. A funeral service will follow at 4pm. A private graveside service will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell at 12:30pm on Monday, August 18. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ASPCA or the American Heart Association.
