Lois Scherger Obituary

Lois B. Scherger, 76, of Norwich, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at the Chenango Memorial Hospital.

Lois was born in Norwich on April 3, 1938 the daughter of Archie Sprague and Wilma (Steward) McIntire. She was a resident of Norwich for most of her life and was a graduate of the Norwich High School. Following her graduation Lois joined the United States Navy and had many fond memories of the time that she served her country. Following her discharge she began her career at NBT Bank where she worked for over 38 years. Lois was a very strong willed person with a kind and generous heart. She enjoyed finding a bargain at garage sales to complete her collections. Over the years Lois was an avid NASCAR fan, loved animals, the NY Times crossword puzzles, but most of all enjoyed good conversation with family and friends.

Lois is survived by her sons Mark Scherger and wife Jane, Kelly Knight and wife Anna, her cousins Chrissy and Tom Cornelia, Tobi Smith and several other cousins. Lois is also survived by her close friends Sharon and Richard Griffin, Sharon and Jim Everard, Stan Benedict, Tim Tice and Ginger Monday.

Lois was predeceased by her husband Elliott Porter Scherger and her daughter Lori Ann Scherger.

At Lois's request there will be no formal funeral services. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
