Obituary

Lois Elizabeth Patterson "Pat" Allen, 86, departed this life on Monday, December 6, 2010. She was a resident at The Courtyards of Berne Village in New Bern, NC. She was formerly of Greensboro, NC where she worked as a Registered Nurse at Moses Cone Hospital. After retirement, Pat continued her passion for nursing by working in a Family Practice office and later for the Masonic Eastern Star Home. She was also an active member of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA). A member of Magnolia Street Baptist Church, she sang in the Chancel Choir and served on the church council. Lois Elizabeth Patterson "Pat" Allen, 86, departed this life on Monday, December 6, 2010. She was a resident at The Courtyards of Berne Village in New Bern, NC.

She was formerly of Greensboro, NC where she worked as a Registered Nurse at Moses Cone Hospital. After retirement, Pat continued her passion for nursing by working in a Family Practice office and later for the Masonic Eastern Star Home. She was also an active member of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA). A member of Magnolia Street Baptist Church, she sang in the Chancel Choir and served on the church council.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence E. (BO) Allen; her son, Andy Allen; and brothers, Nelson and Carl Patterson. She is survived by sons, Larry Allen and partner Scott Bell of Pittsburgh, PA, and David Allen and wife Jan of Jacksonville, NC; and daughter, Gin Monroe and husband Zan of New Bern. What a loving, devoted "Pat Pat" and "Granny Pat" she was to her grandchildren, Bo Allen and wife Lesley of New Bern, Chris Allen of Washington, DC, Kasey Allen of Charlotte, NC, Allen Monroe of Fayetteville, NC and Lindsay Monroe of Raeford, NC; and her two great grandchildren, Drew and Brooks Allen. Pat is also survived by a loving sister, Hazel Stone (Jim) of Siler City, NC; brothers, James Patterson (Susan) of Siler City and Lee Patterson (MarySue) of Sanford, NC and a loving sister-in-law, Jeanette Patterson of Broadway, NC, along with many special nieces and nephews. Special thanks to devoted friends, Pat McLean of Greensboro and Ann Brown of New Bern.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Reidlawn Cemetery, Reidsville, NC where she will be interred.
