Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 5, 2012.

Lois Virginia Blythe (Larson)
Born September 30, 1930 in Sumas Washington to Oscar and Freda Larson and raised on a small farm outside of Everson Washington. Lois attended Clearbrook Grade School and Nooksack Valley High School where she graduated in 1948. She obtained a teaching certificate from Western Washington College in 1951.
Lois married Norman William Blythe in 1957. Norman and Lois were married 45 years until Norman's passing in 2002. They lived the majority of their married life in the Robe Valley outside of Granite Falls, then the last 12 years in the City of Granite Falls.
Lois taught grade school in Anacortes and Everett, then worked as a substitute teacher in the Granite Falls School District until she retired.
Lois was a long time member of Granite Falls Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, actively involved with the Granite Falls Historical Society, and served many years as a member of the Robe Fire Belles.
Lois is survived by her three children; David Blythe (Lincoln Nebraska), Susan Gronemyer (Lake Stevens), and Janet Hilt (Monroe), and daughter-in-law Fanchon Blythe.
The delights of Lois's life included her nine grandchildren; Brien, Austin, Meghann, Ashley, Phillip, Kaleb, Jacob, Hannah, and Luke. Lois also has one great-grandchild Brooks (Meghann).
Lois is also survived by her two sister-in-laws Joyce Larson and Marion Blythe. Lois was also loved by a host of nieces and nephews.
Until recently Lois led an active life with a large number of friends, and was "Grandma Blythe" to many children in her church. Lois was also remembered fondly by former students, many who stayed in contact with her over the years.
Lois enjoyed singing, playing the piano, reading, crocheting, and baking cookies.
Lois was a Christian since she was a young girl and loved the Lord. Granite Falls is where she lived and heaven is now her home.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday, November 9th, 11am at Christ Community Church in Granite Falls.

I remember her being a sub. teacher for a few of my classes. She always had a beautiful smile. I still can recall Louis and my mother always talking about the kids in Granite Falls . It was something they had in interest was children. I remember the last time I seen her was at my mother's funeral, she came all the way from Granite to pay her repects to our family. She always had a kind word. We will miss her around the town and school. May the family find peace at this time and remember the good times together. Remember she is looking down on you all.

To think about all the fond memories of my Aunt Lois makes me smile the biggest smile in a long time. She would always find a way to call me her favorite without offending all her other favorites. Aunt Lois gave me my first Bible at the age of ten. I still have it, but it's a little worn. Her friends and family who have gone before her are now laughing with her in heaven.

Lois was a dear sweet friend.
She will be greatly missed. Lois taught me how to drive on freeway many years ago. She and Susan made my wedding dress. She was an amazing example of patience and love. I can imagine her and my mom deciding who will be boss!! Love to David, Susan and Janet.
