Mrs. J.W. (Lois M.) Edwards, 81, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Raymond with interment in Bolton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday and 1:00 PM Friday, all at the funeral home. Mrs. Edwards was born July 18, 1930 in Pine Bluff, AR to the late Martin T. and Nellie Joiner Carpenter. Mrs. Edwards was born July 18, 1930 in Pine Bluff, AR to the late Martin T. and Nellie Joiner Carpenter. She was a member of Bolton Baptist Church, having worshiped and served for 40 years. Mrs. Edwards retired from her employment with the US Postal Service in 1991. She was an avid reader, enjoyed her crossword puzzles, and most of all- she enjoyed spending time with her family who meant the world to her.

Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Mr. James W. Edwards. She is survived by her sons, James K. Edwards (Luci) of Raymond, MS and Martin D. Edwards of Pelahatchie, MS; daughters, Peggy Marler (Ray) of Greensburg, LA and Patricia Rigby (Bob) of Hermanville, MS; brother, William Carpenter (Sherry) of Watauga, TX; and her sisters, Jane Walker of Crowder, MS and Beatrice Weeks of Marshall, TX. Mrs. Edwards is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family has requested that memorials be made to Hospice Ministries or to Bolton Baptist Church, in memory of Mrs. Edwards.
