Graveside services will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Payette. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel. Lois Eagleton was born on September 5, 1925, in Decatur, Illinois. Lois was the eighth child of nine. She lived on a farm and was a member of the Church of the Brethren her entire life. After graduating from high school, she briefly taught in a small country school. She also moved to Lake Elsinore, California to work in a plane manufacturing plant. She returned home to Decatur and married Earl H. Traughber on December 22, 1946. Lois was the loving mother of six children, grandmother to 17, and great-grandmother to 12. Her heart extended far beyond her immediate family, and there are many she loved as her children through God.

Lois served the church as a partner in her husband's ministry for 39 years. In 1964, Lois and Earl moved the family from Deep Water, Missouri to Fruitland, Idaho where they served the Church of the Brethren until his retirement in 1994. Lois maintained a strong role in the church by singing in the choir, baking numerous pies, and participating in local and district events. She participated in events at Camp Stover in New Meadows, Idaho as part of the denominational ministry. Lois also traveled with her husband after retirement to serve at the Brethren seminary in Virginia and to work at projects for the Idaho/Brethren Disaster Ministry. Lois found great joy in service to others.

Lois has many hobbies which included singing anywhere, anytime; playing the piano; reading; cultivating beautiful flowers; gardening to grow fresh vegetables; and crafting wonderful jams and preserves. Her traditional, now called organic, lifestyle led to her long and healthy life.

Lois V. Eagleton Traughber is survived by six children and their families, Larry Traughber and Judy Fancher who reside in Southern California and Lynn, Russell, Wayne, and Bryan Traughber who reside in Payette. Preceding her in death were her husband, Earl H. Traughber; her parents, Fred and Julia Edith Eagleton; and her eight siblings.

Memorials can be made to the Fruitland Church of the Brethren, Camp Stover or Heifer Project International in care of the Fruitland Church of the Brethren, P.O. Box 309, Fruitland, Idaho 83619.
