LOIS JEAN (GARDNER) WORRELL, age 82, of North Canton, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. She was born on November 27, 1931. Preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Earle Gardner; brothers-in-law, William J. Worrell and Robert P. Worrell; and nephews, William P. Worrell and Mark Worrell. Survived by her husband of 61 years, Frederick M. Worrell; children, Pamela (Joseph) Wojcik, and Frederick (Kristina) Worrell, Jr.; grandchildren, Frederick "Trey" Worrell III, Julia Wojcik, Alexandra Worrell, Benjamin Worrell; brother-in-law, Dr. Oliver Worrell; and sister-in-law, Camella Worrell; and numerous, wonderful...
LOIS JEAN (GARDNER) WORRELL, age 82, of North Canton, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. She was born on November 27, 1931. Preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Earle Gardner; brothers-in-law, William J. Worrell and Robert P. Worrell; and nephews, William P. Worrell and Mark Worrell.

Survived by her husband of 61 years, Frederick M. Worrell; children, Pamela (Joseph) Wojcik, and Frederick (Kristina) Worrell, Jr.; grandchildren, Frederick "Trey" Worrell III, Julia Wojcik, Alexandra Worrell, Benjamin Worrell; brother-in-law, Dr. Oliver Worrell; and sister-in-law, Camella Worrell; and numerous, wonderful nieces and nephews.

At Betty Jane Grade School she had a high I.Q., but her parents chose not to advance her any grades because she was small and they did not think it would be good for her social development. She received the American Legion Merit Award at Betty Jane Grade School. Upon graduation, she attended Cuyahoga Falls High School where she was active in speech, theater, and choir. She enrolled in Fine Arts at Kent State University, majoring in art, class of 1954. She was an active member of the Kent State Alumni Association.

After graduation, Lois traveled extensively with her husband spending 1955 in Esslingen, Germany while her husband, who served in the U.S. Army of Occupation. There she traveled in Germany, Netherlands, France, and Italy. Later she lived in Nottingham, England with her husband in 1982, and later for six months. During these times, she was able to travel extensively in England, Wales, Scotland and revisit friends in Germany and France, and visit the Greek island of Rhodes.

She was active in the community serving on the YWCA Board of Directors and committees of the YWCA and North Canton Community YMCA. Lois attended many Kent State University Stark Campus programs and activities. She continued her interest in art and crafts serving for a period as Activities Director for Manor Care Nursing Center. Lois crocheted baby blankets for friend and for Christ United Presbyterian Church outreach via her friend Margaret Ward.

Her best friends from high school and college were Lucille (Carson) Scott of Silver Lake and Helen Cooley of Stow. Her special friend over the years was "Aunt" Margaret Oeschner from Ravenna. She maintained friendship with Ute Schuller and her family in Germany and sponsored Ute as an exchange student. She was fortunate to have good friend as neighbors and from her church. Lois was known to all for her intellect, wit, and humor. She was a frequent visitor to Marco Island, Florida with family and friends.

She was a member of the Kent State Alumni Association and a charter member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. Her desire was to be cremated and to only have calling hours which will be from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Sunday at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to

The family appreciates Aultman Hospice care services in the home including nurse, Joyce Balla, and care giver, Mary Thompson.
