Lola K. Petersen, 99, of Davenport passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 in the comfort of her home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday at the Runge Mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City or Quad Cities Autism Society.
She was born March 27, 1918, daughter of Robert and Bertha Pontsler. She was united in marriage to Howard W. Petersen on February 16, 1946 in Davenport, IA. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1997.
During WWII Lola was very proud to serve her country by working at the Tank Arsenal. Lola worked and volunteered at the Davenport Lutheran Home for 20 years. She was very committed to her family and friends; they meant everything to her. No one will ever be able to replicate her recipes, especially her meat loaf and chocolate cake.
Those honoring her memory include her children: Jimmie (Denise) Petersen and Sharon Kobre, both of Davenport; grandchildren: Kristi (Jason) Jergens, Kim (Aaron) Stueve, Katy Petersen and Paula (Michael) Granell; great grandchildren: Kasie, JJ, Quintin Moses, Addi, Ellie, Dominik, Liberty, Koralynn and Jameson is due any day.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
