Obituary

Lorie Diane Black passed gently from this life Friday, March 18, 2011. She had been in the kind care of Hendrick Hospice Care the last few days of her courageous fight with cancer. Born on Sept. 10, 1956 to Ben and Berniece Black, Lorie attended Abilene public schools and graduated from Abilene Christian University with highest honors. She was a life-long Christian. Lorie was employed for over 15 years by Lone Star Transportation of Ft. Worth. She loved her Lone Star co-workers as family a n d friends. Lorie loved nature and volunteered many hours through Big Country Audubon Society, Texas Ornithological Society and Friends of Abilene...
Lorie Diane Black passed gently from this life Friday, March 18, 2011. She had been in the kind care of Hendrick Hospice Care the last few days of her courageous fight with cancer. Born on Sept. 10, 1956 to Ben and Berniece Black, Lorie attended Abilene public schools and graduated from Abilene Christian University with highest honors. She was a life-long Christian. Lorie was employed for over 15 years by Lone Star Transportation of Ft. Worth. She loved her Lone Star co-workers as family a n d friends. Lorie loved nature and volunteered many hours through Big Country Audubon Society, Texas Ornithological Society and Friends of Abilene State Park.

Family waiting for Lorie in Heaven are her parents, Ben and Berniece; brother, Stephen; nephew, Zachary Swann; grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Surviving Lorie are brothers Roy Black, Clayton Black and wife, Susie of Rockport; sisters June Black, Christy Swann and husband, Hubert of Brownwood; nephew, Tim Swann of Brownwood; niece, Karina Daniel and husband, Rob and children, Simone, Jackson, and Anna Jane, of Brownwood; and friend since childhood, Kay Beddingfield.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South with graveside services following at the Hamby Cemetery at 3:30 PM.
