Lorraine Katherine (Bowman) Barnard of Bella Vista, AR passed away September 16, 2010 at the age of 93. Born October 29, 1916 in St. Paul, MN, Lorraine had lived most of her life in Kansas City, MO, including 69 years with her late husband and best friend, Chester Lee Barnard. For the entire duration of their married life, Lorraine and Chester Barnard were committed and respected members of Independence Boulevard Christian Church (IBCC). Lorraine gave lovingly of herself for more than 25 years to the children's nursery, as well as serving as Deacon of Esteem and with dedication in the varying projects and ministries of the IBCC women. As her children grew, Lorraine began working outside the family home serving as a teller at Southwestern Bell in downtown Kansas City, retiring in 1979. Both Lorraine and Chester had attended Northeast High School and had life-long friends in the Kansas City area; Chester passed October 16, 2004. Lorraine is survived by her sister, LaVanche Morris, Traverse City, MI; son Gary Barnard and wife Barbara, Versailles, MO; daughter Linda Coulter and husband Bob, Springfield, MO; daughter Kathy Townley and husband Harvey, Bella Vista, AR. Additional survivors include nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and countless other family members and friends, including the Beau Knot class of IBCC and many members of the Bella Vista Community Church. Funeral services and burial will be at Mt. Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home on Saturday, September 25. Services will begin at 10:00 am preceded by Visitation at 9:30 am. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Gideons International, Thru the Bible Radio (J. Vernon McGee) or to charities of individual choosing. Online condolences may be sent to mountmoriahterracepark.com

Gary and family,
Please accept my sincere condolences during this time of loss. I thought the world of Lorraine, as well as Chester and have many fond memories. Lorraine's passing is a great loss to you as a family as well as to the many friends that she leaves behind. She was a tremendous lady, a Christian role model, and a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
