Lorraine Annabelle Irving, 94, was born on January 21, 1920 in Minneapolis, Minnesota; she was one of seven children born to Walter and Louise Raiche. Lorraine married Samuel F. Irving in 1948 and remained married until his death in 1999. They lived the majority of their married life in Fairfax, California until they retired and moved to Cool, California in 1979 to enjoy their retirement years! Lorraine was a Service Representative for AT&T for 35+ years; she loved her job, her co-workers and her customers! During the time she worked at AT&T, Lorraine was active in the Catholic Daughters of America, volunteered at St. Rita's Catholic Church and visited the elderly in local Care Facilities.

After moving to Cool in 1979, Lorraine volunteered with Auburn Faith Hospital, the Telephone Company Pioneers and St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where she was a lector. She especially enjoyed the role of the lector. Lorraine was also a member of the WIF's (Auburn Lake Trails/Cool), the OWLS (Old Widowed Ladies), and a Ceramics Club.

After Sam's death in 1999, Lorraine continued with her volunteer work and spent a lot of time with family and friends. She had a contagious spirit, full of joy, laughter and love. You couldn't help but be happy when you were around her. One of the most wonderful things about Lorraine was her ability to laugh at herself.

Lorraine loved and was loved by every person she met. When her son Sammie died in June 2013, part of the spark in Lorraine's life faded. On April 19, 2014, she passed peacefully into her eternal resting place with Jesus Christ. I have no doubt she is dancing in His light now!

There will be a Memorial Mass at Auburn Ravine Terrace in the multipurpose room on Monday, April 28, at 1:30 pm, followed by a celebration of life. Please join us to honor and share stories of Lorraine and the life she fully lived and loved. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity. Mom was a true believer in "you must give in order to receive." Because she and Sam planned well for their retirement years, they were able to give generously to many different charities and individuals.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband and son, and is survived by her daughters Karen Diamond of Riverside, CA., Patty Wilson of Weimar, grandchildren Nathan (Julie & Violet) Diamond of Eugene, Oregon, Jaime Diamond of Athens, Georgia, Tracey Divita (Nicole, Kortney and Gavin) of Placerville, Trevor Irving of southern California, beloved daughter in-law, Nancy Irving of Napa and many, many friends, especially the wonderful caregivers at Auburn Ravine Terrace.
