ALTER, Louis Jack, age 92 of Dayton passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011. Louis was born on April 19, 1919 in Bronx, New York to Solomon and Anna Goldstein Alter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nelly A. Martinez Alter. He is survived by his sons, Sherman J Alter of Cincinnati, Louis J. Alter, Jr., of Gainesville, FL, Anthony R. R. Alter of Newport News, VA, and Michael B. Alter of Cincinnati. Also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Louis was retired from the U.S. Air Force, enlisting during World War II and spending 25 years in the service. He is also retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Friends may call from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2011 TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5741 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Road, Dayton, Ohio 45429, with a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Private interment Calvary Cemetery.
