Obituary

Louis A. Brown, Jr., 92, died October 31, 2012 at his home. He was better known around the area as "The Candy Airplane Man". He was born on June 19, 1920 in Salina, Kansas to the late Louis A. Brown Sr. and Maud E. (Rodwell) Slyter. He made over 2000 candy airplanes last year and 200,000 over his lifetime. They were constructed out of candy canes, gum wrappers and mints and he handed them out to people around town. Mr. Brown drove the city bus in Wichita, Kansas, Pine Bluff and Fayetteville for over 25 years and in Little Rock in the 50's and mid 60's. Louis A. Brown, Jr., 92, died October 31, 2012 at his home. He was better known around the area as "The Candy Airplane Man". He was born on June 19, 1920 in Salina, Kansas to the late Louis A. Brown Sr. and Maud E. (Rodwell) Slyter.

Mr. Brown drove the city bus in Wichita, Kansas, Pine Bluff and Fayetteville for over 25 years and in Little Rock in the 50's and mid 60's. Then he went to work for Emerson Electric for the next 20 years before retiring.
He was a member of the Arkansas State Guard, organized during WWII.
He is survived by his two sons Joe Brown and Robert Brown both of Rogers. He also leaves 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Evelyn Brown in February of 1991, daughter-in-law Nancy Brown, 2 brothers, Jack and Richard Slyter and 1 sister, Marie Rolland.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 1:00pm at the First Baptist Church in Rogers on Olive and 8th Street. Burial will follow at Rogers Cemetery. A visitation will be Monday from 5-7pm at Callison-Lough Funeral Home Rogers.
