Mayer, Louis R., 91, a loving husband, father and grandfather, was called to Heaven by the Lord on Tuesday, October 23, 2012. He lived a long and fulfilled life. Lou had the gift of wit and enjoyed sharing his wisdom with family and friends. Lou is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Ethel Kearns Mayer; daughters Karen Mayer and Rachel Mayer Port; son Jeff Mayer; son-in-law Jack Wagner; 8 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Molly Anne Wagner; son Gregory Todd Mayer; and daughter Renee Lynne Wagner. He was born July 4, 1921 in Ward, WV. Mayer, Louis R., 91, a loving husband, father and grandfather, was called to Heaven by the Lord on Tuesday, October 23, 2012. He lived a long and fulfilled life. Lou had the gift of wit and enjoyed sharing his wisdom with family and friends.

Lou is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Ethel Kearns Mayer; daughters Karen Mayer and Rachel Mayer Port; son Jeff Mayer; son-in-law Jack Wagner; 8 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Molly Anne Wagner; son Gregory Todd Mayer; and daughter Renee Lynne Wagner.

He was born July 4, 1921 in Ward, WV. He moved to Clearwater, FL from Cuyahoga Falls, OH in 1972. He was a tax attorney and accountant. Lou was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in the Air Force band. He was a member of the Salvation Army Church. He enjoyed playing his trumpet with a number of Big Bands, many church groups and on overseas mission trips.

Friends are being received Monday, October 29 from 11:30 am until time of service at 1 pm at the Salvation Army, 1625 North Belcher Rd, Clearwater, FL. Burial will follow at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, Clearwater. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Lou's memory to the Salvation Army or the Morton Plant Mease Foundation.
