Louise Elizabeth Flanagan (Betty)
Louise Vernon Flanagan passed away peacefully at the Nathaniel Witherell on April 1st at the age of 96. Betty was born in Greenwich, CT on November 27, 1917 to Clifford and Louise Boal Vernon, was raised in Port Chester, NY, and graduated from Port Chester High School, class of 1936. A brother, Clifford Vernon, predeceased her as well as many beloved pets.
Betty was married to Lieutenant Martin K. Flanagan (deceased) of the Greenwich Police Department and lived in Greenwich for the last seventy plus years. She is survived by three daughters, Sharon (Bill) Odierna of The Villages, Florida; Marta (James) Bailey of Stamford and Laraine (Brian) Bronski of Stratford. She is also survived by five grandchildren and six great grandchildren, several cousins and nieces and nephews.
Betty worked in the Records Department of the Greenwich Police Department for twenty five years, retiring in 1986. For many, many years Betty ran the Port Chester High School, Class of '36 high school reunion and loved every minute of it. She remained close friends with the boys and girls on "The Committee" for years beyond. A few more thoughts about our kind mother: Mom loved taking pictures with her Polaroid camera; she had a beautiful smile and always got the most gifts at Christmas!
Betty was a kind and generous lady who did not have a mean bone in her body and will be sorely missed by her family and all those who knew her. A private service will be held at the Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home in Greenwich on Saturday, April 5th at 10 a.m. She will be buried with Martin in the family plot at St. Mary's Cemetery, Greenwich.
Rest in Peace Betty – we will miss you!
